Steady regional and economic expansion and surging demand for
air transport services has contributed to the Hong Kong International
Airport (HKIA)'s record air traffic figures for the 2006-07 financial
year.
HKIA handled over 45 million passengers and 3.57 million tonnes
of cargo, up 8.5% and 2.8% respectively, over 2005-06 results.
Boosted by the continuosly increasing demand for air traffic,
aircraft movement reached 283,000 at a 4.8% over the same period
in the previous finanical year.
HKIA handled 3.83 million passengers and 24,130 aircraft movements
in March, up 8.4% and 2.3% respectively. Cargo throughput in March
dropped 5.4% as compared to March 2006, to 303,000 tonnes.
