Hong Kong, China ports' container throughput for March 2007

The Hong Kong port's container throughput in the first quarter of 2007, from January to March, reached 5.5 million TEUs, a rise of 2.3%. The Shenzhen ports handled 4.6 million tonnes in the first quarter, at a 14.8% increase.

Meanwhile, while throughput surged in February prior to the CNY holidays, the traffic in March dropped 8.8% over March last year, with only 1.9 million TEUs passing through the Hong Kong port. The traffic was similar at the Shenzhen ports, where 1.5 million TEUs were handled in February at a rise of 39.2% over Feburary 2006. But in March, 1.4 million TEUs was handled at a 1.5% rise.
