January 2006, with the Chinese New Year holidays, was a slow month for the Hong Kong port. The overall port handled 1.92mn TEU at a rise of 1.1%, with the Kwai Chung-Tsing Yi terminals accounting for 1.22mn TEU at a rise of 4.5%. The Shenzhen ports handled 1.5mn TEU in January 2006, at a 14.2% rise.
