HKTDC downgrades HK export forecast

Air Cargo Fuel Surcharge
Airlines approved by the HKSAR¡¦s Civil Aviation Department have filed fuel surcharges of not more than HK$2.8 per kg for long haul and HK$1.4 per kg for short haul, with effect from 12 May 2009 onwards.

Meanwhile, as an indicator of the range of import fuel surcharges, the latest British Airways World Cargo announcement on its website a reduction to its fuel surcharge, with effect from 23 February 2009. The new surcharge will be GBP0.37 / USD0.55 / EUR0.55. Here are indicators for other areas from Cathay Pacific Airways: Fuel surcharges reduced in the UK, USA & Canada as per below details :

ex-LHR, MAN (with effect from 1 July 2009)
-to ME & India: adjusted from GBP0.33/kg to GBP0.36/kg
-to All Areas except ME, India & SW Pacific: adjusted from GBP0.36/kg toGBP0.39/kg
-to SW Pacific only: adjusted from GBP0.39/kg toGBP0.42/kg

ex-USA (effective from 1 February, 2009)
- Within North America : adjusted from USD0.40/kg to USD 0.30/kg
- to HKG/SE Asia/NE Asia : adjusted from USD0.65/kg to USD 0.55/kg
- to Aust/NZ/India/Middle East : adjusted from USD0.95/kg to USD 0.85/kg

ex-Canada (effective from 1 February, 2009)
- Within North America : adjusted from CAD 0.60/kg to CAD 0.35/kg
- to HKG/SE Asia/NE Asia : adjusted from CAD 0.90/kg to CAD 0.65/kg
- to Aust/NZ/India/Middle East : adjusted from CAD 1.20/kg to CAD 1.00/kg
