What's New

Shippers are advised NOT to pay depots used by shipping lines when they collect or drop-off empty containers. The Hong Kong Container Depot & Repairer Association Ltd (CDRA) that originally issued the announcement to collect a HK$10 depot charge starting 17 March, after meeting with the shipping lines, has agreed to defer the collection date to 1 April. Discussions among the two parties are still on-going, and we will keep you informed of developments.

The Council has issued two letters to CDRA objecting to the charge (see above). The Council states that shippers have no direct relationship to the depot, as the shipping lines nominate the depots for the collection and drop-off of their empty containers.
