New charge at empties depots used by shipping lines

It has come to our attention that while we have been communicating with shipping lines on the In/Out Depot Management Fee of the Hong Kong Container Depot & Repairer Association Ltd (see Notice and list of members below), these depots that service the shipping lines have posted notices at their gates that the new charge will be collected as of April 1st.

We have sent a second letter to shipping lines who have not responded to our first letter, and sent out a circular to the Council’s member organizations informing them of the developments. Please click on the links below to view these documents.

We have advised shippers that they have the option to select only shipping lines (see Letters from Shipping Lines below) that have said no fees would be collected at the depot they use. We have also told shippers, as a second option, to collect/deliver empties at the Kwai Chung-Tsing Yi container terminals to avoid paying the depot fee to the outside depots used by shipping lines.
